György Palásthy ( Esztergom , January 12 , 1931 – Budapest , April 16, 2012 ) Hungarian film director and screenwriter, winner of the Béla Balázs Prize .
His parents were Sándor Palásthy and Anna Blahovics. He was studying electrical engineering when he won a literary competition at the age of 16. In 1950, he was admitted to the Academy of Theater and Film Arts , where he graduated in 1954 with a degree in film directing. He then became an employee of Mafilm . His first work was the script for the 1959 film Kölyök . He became one of the first managers of the Balázs Béla Studio, founded in 1959 . From 1960, he also worked for Hungarian Television . In 1961, Is Everyone Innocent? was his first independent direction of the feature film. In 1962, he married Ilona Dávid. They had three children: Ágnes (1954), György (1958) and Beáta (1963). He directed children's films from 1969. He was a board member of the Film Arts Association.
