From music videos to commercials, film, television and stage - writer/director Gregg Masuak's award-winning career is as eclectic as his Canadian-Australian-English-American life.
Graduating with a Certificate of Cinematography (NSTC) and a BA in Communications (NSW Institute of Technology), Masuak initially gained the attention of music executives with his earliest, avant-garde shorts, launching a career that found him directing such icons as Spice Girls and Kylie Minogue, Celine Dion, Joe Cocker and Take That. His passion for bringing out the best in people earned him a Juno and two MTV Awards and subsequently led the ad industry to his doorstep.
Finding that psychological sweet spot advertisers and performers were seeking, Masuak put his stamp on such diverse brands as Emporio Armani, Barclays, Olay and NEC, working with actors like Courtney Cox, Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz. More recently The Independent and The Huffington Post dubbed his Aids Alliance "Come Together" spot as "one of the most provocative ads to be screened on British television."
Masuak's short films have earned acclaim at the London International Film Festival as well as the Gold Hugo at the Chicago International Film Festival. Upping the ante on this wealth of hands-on experience Masuak is now producing and gearing up to direct several self-penned feature film and TV projects, notably "Flycatcher", a darkly comic thriller, and "Canoga Faults", a 1-hour comedy-drama.
