Despite the mockery from his maid Michasia and the exasperation of his wife, who warns against his lofty ambitions, Mr. Jourdain remains undeterred. His daughter Lucille’s potential marriage to a nobleman is threatened by an envoy from the Turkish sultan’s son, who seeks her hand. To secure the alliance, the envoy elevates Mr. Jourdain to the rank of Turkish voivode, resolving the dilemma and setting the stage for a humorous conclusion.
