This work recounts the final moments of the Patriotic Conflict of 1837–1838 through the eyes of Charles and Guillaume Beauchamp, two brothers united by blood, loyalty, and the ideal of freedom. As the rebellion collapses under pressure from British forces, the two young Patriots, hiding at the home of a former friend of their deceased father, attempt to flee brutal repression. Their journey becomes a heartfelt cry for a nation yet to be born.
