The Takagaki-gumi, having grown in size, changed its name to the Kyōō-kai, with Morita Kōkichi appointed as its first chairman. Amidst this, a succession dispute erupted within the Takamasa-kai. Kumauchi, dissatisfied with the chosen successor, found himself in opposition to the Takamasa-kai. Sensing his feelings, his sworn brother Morita resolved to confront the Takamasa-kai.
