Elin has just lost her job as a nurse at a clinic in Stockholm and has also broken up with her boyfriend Per after a disappointing marriage proposal. She wants a change of scenery and decides to take a job in the quiet village of Trosa caring for the grumpy Ingmar Andersson, a retired country doctor who has been in a wheelchair for years.
