The old and sick artist Symonds Kendle, fleeing from the insistent claims of his children to his remaining paintings and drawings, goes with his granddaughter Felicity to another city to a friend. But on the way the artist falls ill and ends up in a small station hotel. Felicity and Stan, the son of the innkeeper, search for boxes of Simon's paintings that have fallen into another station.
