Julio Argentino Roca (1843-1914) was a renowned Argentine politician and military. He was the president of his country for two non-consecutive terms (1880-1886 and 1898-1904). He is also remembered for executing the now controversial "Campaña del desierto", where he annihilated the native populations of the Argentine Patagonia.
