From 1926 to 1937, he worked at the Leningrad TRAM (Theater of Working Youth) and the Lenin Komsomol Theater, while simultaneously studying at the College of Performing Arts. In the 1937–1938 season, he worked at the Arkhangelsk Youth Theater (TYuZ). He joined the Leningrad Comedy Theater on September 3, 1938. During the war, he performed with front-line brigades. In the 1970s, he worked with the Lenkoncert touring organization.
